Home mooring: at the house's boat dock, where boat handover and return also take place.
A sea kayak can be rented on site.
General information about the property:
Haus Aagenes, with its holiday apartment "Haralds Hauen" (Harald's Paradise) on the ground/basement level, is situated in a beautiful and sunny secluded location on private property directly on the western shore of Rasvagfjord on the island of Hidra. The island is divided by the Mittelfjord, which is navigable via the Eiekanal to the Hidrasund and further to the adjacent Flekkefjorden. To the south, the open sea opens up with its plateaus Nomba, Grönnevika, and the famous "Football Field" plateau in the Listafjorden.
The holiday apartment was completed for rental at the end of April 2020. All rooms are newly built and furnished. The entrance is through a private covered terrace/conservatory with a hallway leading to the open-plan kitchen area. The modern and fully equipped apartment also includes a comfortable living area with a wood-burning stove, smart TV, internet access, and a dining area. If needed, the sofa can be converted into an additional bed to accommodate 3-4 people.
The holiday spot offers a magnificent view of the fjord. A large, sunny area with lawns, a seating area, and a fire pit by the lower jetty surrounds the house. The natural path from the apartment to the jetty is about 80 meters long and gently sloping. You can sit and barbecue sheltered from the wind on the terrace or jetty, even when a brisk northwesterly wind blows across the fjord.
We believe Hidra offers the best fishing grounds in the south, including the Hidrasund via the Eie connecting canal, as well as Siragrunnen and Listafjord in good weather. The property is particularly well-suited for a small family or friendly anglers, but not for large groups. Please note that the upper floor of the house is occupied by the owners and their dog. However, this will not affect your stay, as the living areas are separate. A major advantage is that the owners are locals on Hidra and have extensive knowledge of boating and fishing.
There's a lot going on at Hidra right now, with the local population contributing financially and with considerable effort to various projects. Numerous projects have already been completed, including the reopening of the general store with a boat fuel station in Rasvåg and the full commissioning of the fuel station at Fiskerihaven in Kirkehamn, also for boats. We would be delighted to welcome you as our first guests on behalf of the owner.

Fishing in Flekkefjord, from Abelnes to Hidra
Fishing in the sea and the fjords:
From your location in the Flekkefjord and Abelnes region, you have excellent opportunities for sea trout and saltwater fishing, depending on the tides and the time of year.
The marine fish in this region are incredibly diverse. The tranquil fjord locations offer numerous advantages, particularly for anglers, diving groups, and families with children who enjoy fishing, providing easy access to some of the best fishing grounds. Our excellent boat will effortlessly take you to some of the most renowned fishing spots in southern Norway.
These include Flekkefjord, the Bubble Bay near Fjellsa (reachable in only 10-15 minutes), as well as Vollesfjord and Strandsfjord near Andabelöy, Eidsfjorden, Stolsfjorden, Hidrasund and Fedafjord.
The wreck of the Gudrun, which sank off the harbor in Abelnes during World War II, is a popular destination for divers from all over the world in spring, summer, and autumn. The shores off Grönnes in Flekkefjord offer good opportunities for sea trout and sea bass fishing. Other saltwater fish can also be caught from shore, depending on the tide. If you are interested in salmon or trout fishing, we recommend visiting the large freshwater lakes in the area, as well as the rivers in Ana Sira or Kvinensdal (please note the closed seasons and the requirement for day permits).
In good weather, you can even explore the south coast of Hidras, the Lista Plateau, and the Siragrunnen. Insider tips include the shell cove in Vollesfjord and the so-called "retiree cove" in the immediate vicinity of the house in Stolsfjorden.
The Siragrunnen and the fish-rich Lista plateau (also known as the "football field" due to its vast, sandy, approximately 40-60 meter deep plateau) can be reached by boat in good weather. However, these trips require careful nautical planning and consistently good weather throughout the day.
Keep in mind that you can also fish in the open sea in the Abelnes region, which is one of the best fishing grounds in southern Norway, boasting an impressive variety of fish species and astonishing sizes. Therefore, it's important to plan and consider your trips carefully. Please check the wind and wave height several times a day on the usual weather websites. Also, pay attention to the recommendations of the owners and locals.
A wreck on the Listafjorden near Lista Fyr at a depth of 67 meters is considered a hidden gem, where sizable ling, sometimes also large cod and good pollack can be found.
At and around Pollackberg in Listafjorden, at a depth of 70 meters, hard-fighting sea fish, especially pollack, are regularly caught, as our pictures clearly demonstrate. Directly south of the lighthouse, at depths of 45 to 80 meters, ling, pollack, and good-sized cod also congregate along the drop-offs.
Fishing in Eidsfjord, near Cape Varnes and Stolsfjord
The fishing area lies directly in front of Eidsfjord, with its two small skerries in the middle of the fjord. Here you'll find excellent spots for pollack, cod, and saithe. The sandy bottom promises good catches of cod, ling, and flatfish. Fishing in the fjord is permitted daily. We have often fished in Eidsfjord and Stolsfjord, including at the fjord entrances along the verdant cliffs with their steep, terraced edges and considerable depths, in the opposite Stolsfjord, and towards Cape Varnes with its renowned pollack spots. At Cape Varnes, please fish at a safe distance from the steep banks. Pollack are plentiful there, hiding among the underwater vegetation in shallow water. Do not enter the small bays and harbors; beware of shallows.
In Eidsfjorden itself, you can always find cod, saithe, pollack, and ling, as well as mackerel in the summer, and occasionally salmon and sea trout while trolling. Flounder and plaice prefer sandy bottoms. This alternative is a good option when the wind is northwest and you can't go out to sea. With easterly winds, fishing trips are almost always possible. Please bear in mind that you are fishing here in the fjord, just before the open sea, arguably the best fishing area in southern Norway, with a great diversity of species and surprisingly large fish. Therefore, your trips should be well-planned and carefully considered.
Please check Windguru and yr.no several times a day for wind and wave height in Eidsfjorden (link click).
Fishing in freshwater / in the lakes and streams of the surrounding area:
There are many beautiful fishing spots in the area – for trout, char, and sea trout. On the website Listerfriluft.no you will find an overview of the fishing lakes and sea trout spots. A permit is required for some freshwater lakes and is subject to a fee. Here you can find all the information about freshwater fishing spots in Southern Norway. (Click here)

Leisure tips, activities, and attractions:
We recommend evening visits to the restaurants and pubs in Flekkefjord, such as the Grand Hotel or the Maritim Hotel, which offer excellent cuisine. Live music and dance events often take place on weekends, which are accessible by boat during the day. These trips are prohibited after dark. In the shopping centers, you will find everything you need for a shopping spree. In the Flekkefjord harbor, there is a boat fuel station called "Groennes Marina" offering marine diesel and gasoline. There is also a general store and a new boat fuel station in Abelnes, on Andabeløy. Only card payments with Visa or Mastercard and PIN are accepted here. Additional gas stations and ATMs are easy to find within the town.
The "white" town of Flekkefjord offers a diverse pedestrian zone with numerous shops, restaurants, pubs, dance bars, and other attractions. There are always events and performances, from open-air concerts to other happenings. The local diving club can organize diving trips for you by prior arrangement with the board. At the Flekkefjord harbor entrance, you'll find the historic Grønnes fortress and the only fjord beach with a diving platform. In summer, a boat trip to the popular swimming and barbecue island of Torsoy, located opposite Fjellsa, is highly recommended. If you have any questions about fishing, we're happy to answer them.

Recommended travel route - ferries:
Take the ferry from Hirtshals (DK) to Kristiansand (N). We are happy to help you choose the cheapest ferry ( Color Line or Fjord Line ) and can reliably book it for you upon request.
Information on how to get there: The ferry has been free since August 2023.
Hidra is an island near Flekkefjord, roughly halfway between Stavanger and Kristiansand. The distance to these cities is approximately 125 kilometers (about a 2-hour drive). Long-distance buses run directly to Flekkefjord from Kristiansand or Stavanger. The car ferry operates every half hour/hourly during the day from the mainland port of Kvellandstrand to the island, from 6:35 a.m. to 11:35 p.m., and until 1:30 a.m. or 2:30 a.m. on weekends. The ferry departs from the island to the mainland at "five to the half hour," but does not cross to the mainland before 6:25 a.m.
New this year is the option to book the 4:00 AM ferry from Hidra to the mainland via a service number. However, it's best to plan your return journey using the afternoon ferries from Kristiansand, as you may not be able to catch the 8:00 AM ferry to Denmark on time due to traffic if you don't leave the island until 6:35 AM! The ferry fare is determined based on the number of people in your car/trailer and will be settled on your return trip.
Please note the ferry's summer/winter timetable.
Arrival from Kristiansand: After leaving the ferry/customs, follow the signs to Stavanger/Flekkefjord (E 39), approximately 125 km to the destination.
There are automatic toll booths along the route. Please register your vehicle at autopass.no . If you wish to use the Autopass lanes without registering, you or the vehicle owner will later receive a standard toll invoice for the incurred fees. Leave the E39 at the Flekkefjord exit and continue straight through the roundabout towards the town center. Upon entering Flekkefjord, you will find two petrol stations immediately to your left on the main road. Behind them are several supermarkets (Coop, Spar, Rema 1000, KIWI), which are open until 9 or 10 pm on weekdays. In Flekkefjord, continue on Route 44 for approximately 5 km. At the signpost for Abelnes/Hidra, turn onto Route 469 towards Kvellanstrand/Hidra. (Signpost)
Continuing on Hidra: After disembarking the ferry on Hidra, follow the road to Eie. At the junction near the bridge, turn right and continue a little further towards Kirkehamn/Kirkehavn. Then turn left onto the small road to Havsvik and follow the signs for Aagenes.
Additional costs for the included boat:
Included are the costs for boat rental, mooring and inventory as described, comprehensive insurance according to Norwegian national law with a deductible of up to 1000 euros depending on the boat type and insurance, and the necessary safety equipment and gear according to Norwegian law.
Exclusive and not included in the rental price: passenger insurance and accident protection, personal liability insurance, excess cover, consumables, fuels and lubricants.
Boat insurance - hull coverage:
The boat is generally covered by comprehensive insurance under Norwegian law. The deductible in case of damage is up to €1,000, depending on the boat. The deductible amount can vary and should be inquired about with the boat owner upon taking possession of the boat and documented on the checklist. Personal belongings are not insured. The insurance does not cover accidental injuries suffered by persons traveling on the rental boat. The renter is liable for damage to and loss of the boat, unless the damage is covered by insurance. Damage also includes consequential damage. The lessor/owner may retain the security deposit until the damage is repaired. The deductible per claim is to be borne by the renter and may differ from the security deposit. The security deposit will be refunded immediately upon the boat's return in undamaged condition. Any damage not covered by the security deposit or insurance must be paid for by the renter immediately before departure. The renter is obligated to inform the lessor/owner immediately of any damage, collisions, other unusual occurrences, or complaints.
Boat license:
Guests born before January 1, 1980, do not require a boating license for this class of motorboat in Norway. Younger individuals must hold a boating license for boats with more than 25 hp.
Binding rules of conduct - tenant's liability:
We expect abstinence from alcohol on board, as you as skipper bear a great responsibility for the crew.
The renter is liable for any damage they cause themselves, as well as for any damage caused by other users of the boat. Use of the boat is at the renter's and all other users' own risk. The renter must inform their crew in a timely manner that they should obtain adequate insurance coverage against accidents before departure. Furthermore, the skipper must familiarize the crew with the boat's operation and the terms of the rental agreement and ensure that all passengers wear life jackets during trips.
If fish cleaning is to take place on the boat or on a suitable filleting table at the dock, please dispose of the fish waste at sea, not in the harbor basin. Always cover fish waste (to protect against seagulls).
Territorial restrictions:
Trips are only permitted in the adjacent and suitable waters of the home port and in coastal areas.
A minimum distance of 100 meters must be maintained from fish farms or similar facilities. Failure to comply with maritime regulations may result in immediate termination of the lease by the landlord/owner. Any claims by the tenant will then be forfeited.
Handover - Return:
The use of the boat is generally tied to the rental period of the booked property.
Equipment and inventory will be handed over/accepted according to the checklist.
Location: Handover with driving instruction and return take place at the berth.
Handover: after 6:00 PM or by arrangement with the owner
Return: Boat cleaned by 10:30 am on the last day of rental or by arrangement with the owner.
Any delays must be reported to the owner immediately by telephone.
Cleaning the boat:
The tenant must carry out the thorough final cleaning of the boat himself and returns the boat in a clean condition, just as it was handed over to him by the landlord.
