The new holiday apartment "Lille Vidvanke": Neighbouring house to the holiday home Villa Vidvanke
Windows with 180-degree sea views and the flair of the new, cozy furniture ensure maximum contact between the home and nature, integrating it into the magnificent landscape. Sitting inside and looking out, it's as if admiring a gigantic nature painting. To create a connection to nature, there is also art on the walls and in the very large garden, which can be used jointly with guests of the main house. Here, comfort and nature play a central role. No matter where you are on the property, you will experience Norway as it once was, without sacrificing the necessary comforts. There are meadows surrounding the property and an orchard with unobstructed views of the sea. The interior is modern, with fine, white sofa furniture that promises plenty of comfort. It's best not to sit on the beautiful furniture with dirty fishing pants. The entire property is allowed to be shown off to its full potential, and nature is always the most important decoration – inside and out. When the wind blows hard, it gives us the best music, the howling and sound of the waves. Then Listaland is at its best. Come to this holiday home to relax and enjoy some time for yourself.
The single-level annex is sure to meet your needs. Featuring an open-plan living area and kitchen with a fridge-freezer, free Wi-Fi and a smart TV, two bedrooms that sleep a total of five, and a bathroom with a toilet and modern shower, the holiday home is particularly well-suited to small families and friendly fishing groups. Here, you'll find peace and quiet from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And when you sit on the steps in front of the panoramic window with a glass of wine in the evening, watching the sea and the setting sun, you'll never tire of the view. It's truly the world's best, most magical place to live, says the owner.
Our large rental boats, which are, of course, registered for tourist fishing, are located in Borhaug-Borshavn. There, in Borhaug, as well as in nearby Vanse, you'll find well-stocked supermarkets with groceries and freshly baked goods, gas stations, fishing tackle, and almost everything you need for daily life. We believe that here with us in Listaland, you can vacation in some of the most beautiful regions and fish in the best fishing areas in the south. A fabulous overall package that is certainly unparalleled.
Interesting facts about the property and the main house Villa Vidvanke:
Nature took center stage when a renowned architect, together with the family of seafaring pastor Hilde, planned and remodeled the 19th-century main estate, Villa Vidvanke, in the wild and rugged Lista landscape. Landscape architect Marianne Leisner and architect Rolf Jacobsen restored the old main building from a dilapidated, old Swiss cottage. Villa Vidvanke is a so-called Gaia House, an environmentally friendly house with a focus on ecology, health, and quality of life. The philosophy was that the house harmonize with the surroundings and landscape and that it be constructed primarily from natural materials. The idea behind sustainable construction was that building technology, energy solutions, materials, and indoor climate all harmonize.
The resulting design was a sculpturally designed building clad in natural wood, with numerous windows and romantic furnishings. The house is constructed of stained spruce, a color that also harmonizes with the interior, as much of the interior features contrasting colors.

Fishing in the sea and in the fjords, from Borhaug via Farsund to Sigersvoll / Eidsfjorden
We are fishing specialists in Borhaug and the surrounding area. Here you will also find the best and most impressive fishing videos from our fishing friends Achim and Claus from the Bjøernevag, Farsund, and Borhaug regions over the past 10 years.
Here you can find the fishing films from The Achim Videos" 2014 – 2023" (Link) on YouTube
After booking, we will provide you with a map of the best fishing spots in the offshore waters (the Jölle plateau in Listafjorden, known as a football field, and the Rauna plateau near the shipwrecks between Farsund and Borhaug). Excellent cod, pollock, coalfish, ling, lumpfish, as well as smaller halibut weighing 10-20 kg and vast quantities of mackerel are regularly brought back from the offshore banks and plateaus. Even large halibut in the 80-kg class have been caught.
The fishing spots are littered with wrecks that sank before the lighthouse was built at the turn of the century. A well-kept secret is a wreck near Lista Lighthouse at a depth of 67 meters, where impressive ling, sometimes large cod, and good pollack can be found. In and around the pollack mountain in Listafjorden at a depth of 70 meters, strong-fighting marine fish, especially pollack, regularly catch the hook, as our photos amply demonstrate. Ling, pollack, and good cod can also be found on the rocky outcrops directly south of the lighthouse, at depths of 45 to 80 meters.
But: Keep your boats away from the lighthouse's shore. Huge boulders lie beneath the water's surface, and a wave or strong swell would smash your boat against the underwater obstacles.
The Rauna Plateau, further east, with its sandy ditches and elevations at a water depth of 117 meters, is also known for its exceptional and very large cod, coalfish, and ling. The ditches surrounding the plateau are very deep and have produced enormous ling and beautiful halibut.
The beaches and piers near Borhaugs offer good surf fishing for sea trout, turbot, and other flatfish species, especially in spring and early summer. Good specimens are regularly caught on the shallow beaches near the race track, Osthasselstrand, Nordhasselstrand, and Bausje.
In Borhaug's outer harbor, from the pier next to the harbor entrance to the sea, there are always plenty of flounder and plaice caught from land. This is a good alternative when the northwest wind blows and you can't go out.
It's particularly noteworthy that the owners in this area take exemplary care of their guests. Don't worry, even on the larger boats, you'll receive detailed instruction and driving practice until you're truly confident handling the watercraft.
Please remember that you are fishing in the open sea, in one of the best fishing areas in southern Norway, with a rich biodiversity and astonishingly large fish. Your outings should always be carefully planned and considered. Please check the online weather app several times a day for wind and wave heights. yr.no . And don't risk your life for a fish. Your children would be happy if you returned home safe and sound.

Fishing in Eidsfjord near Varnes
The fishing area is located directly in front of Eidsfjord, with its two small skerries in the middle of the fjord, offering excellent fishing spots for pollock, cod, and coalfish. The sandy bottom promises good catches of cod, ling, and flatfish. Fishing in the fjord is possible every day. We have often fished in Eidsfjord, as well as at the fjord entrances along the green cliffs with their steep, sheer cliffs and very deep waters, in the opposite Stolsfjord, or toward Cape Varnes with its renowned pollock fishing spots. There, at Cape Varnes, please fish at a safe distance from the steep shores. Pollock are plentiful there among the underwater vegetation at shallow depths. Avoid small bays and harbors; beware of shallow waters.
In the Eidsfjorden itself, there are always cod, coalfish, pollock, ling, mackerel in the summer, and occasionally salmon and sea trout when trolling. Flounder and plaice like sandy bottoms. This alternative is a good option when you can't go out in a northwesterly wind. With an easterly wind, trips are almost always possible. Please keep in mind that you are fishing here in the fjord just before the open sea, arguably the best fishing area in southern Norway, with a wide variety of species and astonishingly large fish. Therefore, your trips should be well planned and considered.
Please check wind and wave height several times a day on Windguru and yr.no Eidsfjorden (Link Click)
Amateur anglers will find plenty of opportunities in Eisdfjord. Plenty of pollock, coalfish, and cod in impressive sizes, along with plenty of mackerel and other marine fish, are on the list. Fancy some edible crab? The caretaker knows where to catch them by hand. Eisdfjorden is known for its good water quality and abundance of fish. Follow the advice of experienced owners and locals and never go out to sea in uncertain weather.
GPS coordinates to the best fishing spots for cod, pollock, ling, lumpfish, coalfish, etc. will be provided upon booking. On board, you'll receive detailed instruction and driving lessons until you're fully comfortable with the boat.
You can find fishing and equipment tips on our homepage under the Norway tab.

Finally, what can we say about the beautiful Lista region?
It's fascinating to see how the sea changes with the wind, sun, and weather, and how the play of light transforms the landscape. Norwegians call it a miniature version of Norway because all of the country's typical cultural and natural elements converge here. Many believe that the Lista region will soon overtake the Lofoten Islands. Norwegians love extreme challenges in hiking and sporting activities, and in winter, extreme weather with snow and violent storms, which are a true natural spectacle. This is where the Lista region excels.
Borhaug offers its guests horseback riding, an alpaca farm, soccer and volleyball courts, arguably the best outdoor skate park, a large go-kart track on Lista Fly Plass, and a gym with a solarium. A visit to the Lista Lighthouse and the quaint stone fields is an absolute must.
If it's windy or the weather is bad, head to the coast to Jölle and Snekkestö. If you wander along the shores after a storm, you'll find many ancient and maritime objects that the sea has washed up from the depths. Develop a passion for collecting and craft your finds into great eye-catchers for your home. Visit the hidden mountain lakes in the hinterland and spend a lovely day swimming there in the summer. Even in Norway, the water can reach temperatures of up to 20 degrees Celsius in shallow areas.
The existing and excellently signposted hiking trails (over 200 km in total) are waiting to be conquered by experienced hikers.
