Nordstranda Fjord Holiday
The Nordstranda Fjordferie holiday resort was built in 2023 on approximately 500 meters of shoreline along the idyllic Helvikfjord.
A completely new waterfront promenade was created, complete with boat moorings and jetties, a fish filleting house, a beautifully landscaped property, and much more. The complex includes three Norwegian fjord cabins and modern holiday apartments, all with magnificent fjord views. All brand-new 2023 model boats are available for rental. And we offer all this just a few kilometers west of Farsund, in a sheltered, sunny, and inviting location.
From Easter 2023, you can book your holiday year-round in the three renovated Norwegian cabins with new furnishings, as well as in two high-quality, modernly equipped apartments. The location directly on the Helvikfjord is fantastic and is especially popular with German, Austrian, Belgian, and Dutch tourists. Not only because you can successfully fish for sea trout and flatfish right on the shore, but also because the area offers so many wonderful nature experiences. In addition to life on the fjord, there are also a number of attractions for all ages in the immediate vicinity of Farsund. Last but not least, the area around Farsund and the Sørland coast offer a sea of freshwater and saltwater fishing opportunities.
Experience this beautiful holiday home in all seasons.
On the grounds you will find a very well-maintained promenade where you can fish and enjoy the morning and evening sun in the summer until late in the evening. At this sunny holiday spot you can enjoy a fantastic view of the fjord in front of you with its new jetties and boat docks, and of the mountains on the horizon. Fishing and leisure activities in Farsund and Bjoernevag Region
Fishing in Farsund, Bjoernevag, Nordstranda and the waters outside Katland on the sea up to Cape Lindesnes.
In the Farsund area, with its fjords, island gardens, skerries, and the extremely fish-rich plateaus at sea off Katland and the Kletten Islands, water sports and saltwater fishing (all types) are at the top of your daily agenda. For diving, kitesurfing, surfing, and recreational, sport, and hobby anglers, the area is always known for its surprises.
Good catches of impressive sea fish, such as cod, pollock, coalfish, saithe, and lumpfish, occasionally halibut, as well as plentiful mackerel, are brought home particularly from the marine hotspots off Farsund, between Lindesnes Lighthouse and Lista Lighthouse. Of course, we know that success rates depend on the weather, the season, and the currents, but that's just how it is along the coasts throughout Norway. Many of our guests have sent us pictures, videos, and feedback on their fishing experiences; see for yourself. (Click on impressions)
Here you will also find the best and most impressive fishing videos of our fishing friends Achim and Claus from the Bjoernevag, Farsund and Borhaug region of the last 10 years.
Here you can find the fishing films from The Achim Videos" 2014 – 2023" (Link) on YouTube
The exciting videos demonstrate once again that fishing in the Lista region is very productive when the weather is stable. The size of the fish caught is particularly impressive, despite the often-stated claim that there are no big fish in southern Norway.
It's important to use the right fishing gear and methods. Here you'll find the right tips on tackle and our recommended fishing methods. (Click link)
The open sea with its plateaus Nesskletten, Svaneflua, Rauna and other good fishing spots should only be approached with suitable boats and only in stable weather.
What's important to us: You should only visit offshore fishing spots in stable weather and with a suitable boat! Small dinghies should avoid offshore fishing areas and have no place on the open sea.

After all, the entire area offers more than 20 species of fish to catch. You can fish between the islands and skerries, or in the sheltered fjord, with hardly any downtime, in virtually any weather. In good standing weather with little wind, you can easily reach the open sea and the sandy plateaus from most fishing locations. In the wintery spring, herring come to the coast, joined by strong cod and coalfish.
From some of the jetties, you can catch flatfish, flounder, and even mefo, as well as other marine fish. The owner can usually provide good weather tips and point you to worthwhile fishing spots. Sheltered fishing in the fjord is almost always possible. So, if you want to combine fishing with family, a short commute, and plenty of alternative vacation activities, this region is the place for you.
You can book professionally guided fishing trips from Farsund or Borhaug. The operator, Björnevags, also offers guided deep-sea and deep-sea fishing trips on the M/S Bjørnevåg, a 32 ft/100 hp boat certified for 5-8 people. The trip lasts approximately 6 hours and is subject to confirmation. (Can only be booked and paid for on-site in Björnevag.)
Fishing at Nordstranda:
At various times of the year, schools of mackerel and other marine fish species migrate to the Helvikfjord near Norstranda. Starting in April, sea trout fishing directly from Nordstranda's jetty or at the Svingbru in Bøensbakken is extremely promising and successful. We believe the best sea trout fishing can be found along the shores and beaches of Farsund, or, if it's windy, even under the bridge in the city center. We've tested it ourselves and had quite a successful experience.
In the summer of 2023, a pod of peaceful killer whales (orcas) even migrated into the inner fjords and stayed there for several weeks to feed and rest. Visitors should stay away from these majestic animals and the seals by boat and always maintain a safe distance.
Did you know that from our new Nordstranda facility near Helvik, you can take a boat through the fjords to Lyngdal or Apta? Or in just 15 minutes directly to Farsund town center, and from there, quickly out to sea, past the Katland Lighthouse?
Freshwater fishing / in the surrounding lakes and streams:
There are many beautiful fishing spots in the area – for trout, char, and sea trout. On the website Listerfriluft.no , you'll find an overview of fishing lakes and sea trout spots. For some freshwater lakes, a license is required, which is subject to a fee. Here you'll find all the information about freshwater fishing spots in Southern Norway. (Click here)
We wish you much success, fun and good fishing.

Your boat is covered by hull insurance. The excess in the event of damage is €1,000. The type of coverage and the amount of the excess can vary; please ask the boat owner when picking up the boat and document it on the checklist. Personal belongings are not insured. Hull insurance does not cover accidental damage suffered by persons traveling on the rental property. The renter is liable for damage to and loss of the boat unless the damage is covered by the insurance. Damage also includes consequential damage. The landlord/owner can retain the deposit paid until the damage is repaired. The excess for each claim is to be borne by the renter and may differ from the deposit. If the boat is returned in good condition, the deposit will be refunded immediately. Any damage not covered by the deposit or insurance must be compensated for by the renter immediately before departure. The renter undertakes to immediately notify the landlord/owner of any damage, collisions, other unusual incidents, or complaints.

The renter is liable for any damage caused by themselves and also for any damage caused by other users of the boat. The use of the boat is at the renter's own risk and that of all other users. The renter shall inform the crew in a timely manner that they will, if necessary, obtain adequate insurance against damages before the start of the trip. Furthermore, the boat operator must familiarize the crew with the boat's technical features and the terms and conditions of the contract and ensure that all passengers wear life jackets during trips.
If cleaning fish is done on the boat or on a suitable filleting table at the jetty, please dispose of fish waste at sea, not in the harbor basin. Always cover fish waste (to protect against seagulls).
Territory restriction:
Trips are only permitted in the adjacent and suitable waters of the home port and near the coast.
A minimum distance of 100 meters must be maintained from fish farms or similar facilities. Failure to comply with maritime regulations may result in immediate termination of the rental agreement by the landlord/owner. Any claims by the tenant are deemed forfeited.

Handover: 17.00 h - 18.00 h or by arrangement with the owner
Return: by 10:30 a.m. on the last day of rental or by arrangement with the owner.
Eventual delays must be reported to the owner immediately by telephone.
Cleaning the boat:
The renter is responsible for thoroughly cleaning the boat after each outing. The renter must return the boat in the same clean and fueled condition as it was handed over by the rental company. We would like to expressly point out that GRP boats should not be walked on with black, stain-causing soles. Cleaning afterward is very difficult and requires a lot of effort on your part. For an improperly cleaned boat, we charge up to €100, depending on the effort involved.
